We’re sorry, it looks like your prescription is more than two years old.
Your eye health is our top priority, so we can only take orders for prescription glasses if you have had an eye test in the last two years. Regular eye tests keep our eyes healthy and ensure any changes to prescription are spotted early.
We are currently expanding our network of in-store opticians offering sight tests, so take a look at our store page to see if there is one near you. If we haven’t made it into your area yet, please have an eye test at your local opticians before ordering glasses online.
We hope to see you again soon.

In order for us to make your glasses you’ll need to provide us with an up to date prescription. If you do not have yours to hand, your current optician can provide a copy for you free of charge.
How will you use your glasses?
Tell us what you’ll be using your glasses for. As we can only provide single vision glasses online (not varifocals), the options are Distance or Reading.
Lens Type
All of our glasses come with M&S Standard Single Vision lenses included but there are options for additional coatings or thinner, lighter lenses that perform better and have more cosmetic appeal, especially for higher prescriptions.
Lens Colour
If you see OD on your prescription it is simply an abbreviation of the Latin for Right Eye, ‘oculus dexter’. If you see OS on your prescription it is simply an abbreviation of the Latin for Left Eye, ‘oculus sinister’.
The Sphere relates to the power of the lenses required to correct your vision. If you are short sighted the value will be negative (-). If you are long sighted it will be positive (+). The higher the value, the stronger the lens.
A Cylinder or CYL value will be required if you have Astigmatism, where the front of your eye is irregularly shaped.
The Axis is linked to the CYL value and tells us in which direction we must position the Cylinder power in your lens. The value is measured in degrees from 1 to 180.
Pupillary Distance is the distance in millimetres from the centre of the bridge of your nose to the middle of the pupil of your right eye and the same meaurement for your left eye. Find out how to measure your own PDs here.
You’ll probably have an ADD value on your prescription if you are over 40. This part of your prescription will help you focus on things that are close up and it will always have a ‘+’ value. If you have selected reading glasses but do not have an ADD value in your prescription, simply choose 0.00.
