Mask-associated dry eye, also known as MADE, is caused by the airflow that would usually be dispelled outwards being forced upwards over the eye. When your eyes are exposed to increased amounts of wait, it can cause the tears in your eyes to evaporate and become dry.
It is usually a result of the prolonged use of face masks and the increase of time spent in front of a computer screen during the COVID-19 pandemic era.
Tips for preventing MADE?
We have a few tips that will help prevent and reduce the effect of MADE:
Make sure your mask fits well.
Use eye drops where appropriate.
Limit your time in dry environments.
Talk to your optician.
